Telecom operations modernisation

An eight-year engineering partnership with a leading Hong Kong telecom — migration to micro-service architecture, a plug-and-play resource model, and database performance work across their operational systems.

Eight-year partnership modernising live telecom systems.

HGC is a leading Hong Kong ICT and telecom provider — an extensive fibre-optic network, data-centre and broadband services, and cross-border telecom routes. Thrymr has worked alongside the HGC team for eight years, improving systems and shipping new capabilities on platforms that cannot stop running.

The challenge

HGC’s operational systems needed to evolve — better scalability, easier component replacement, and faster data access — without disrupting live telecom services.

What we did

  • Transition to micro-service architecture, making services independently manageable and updatable
  • Plug-and-play resource model so system components can be added or replaced without major disruption
  • Database indexing and query optimisation, significantly reducing data-retrieval times
  • Unified operations interface with real-time insight into network operations, billing, and error tracking across core systems

The outcome

An eight-year, continuing partnership. HGC’s platform is more scalable and flexible, and adapts to new requirements without the rewrites that used to block change.
